Biliary tract dyskinesia.
The radiological report of gall bladder contraction 60 minutes after fatty meal, was compared with the computed volume and contraction of gall bladder using Siffert's technique. Of 46 oral cholecystograms, 34 were reported to be normal and 12 as poor contraction. On computation only 14 were found to be normal and 32 showed poor contraction. The difference was statistically significant.

Biliary dyskinesia is a functional gastrointestinal disorder of the gallbladder and sphincter of Oddi. Diagnosis is made on the basis of symptoms of biliary colic in the absence of cholelithiasis and gallbladder inflammation. Palpatory findings of tissue texture changes at midthoracic levels (T6-T9) may correspond to visceral dysfunction related to the biliary system. Osteopathic manipulative t...
متن کاملSurgical Treatment of Dyskinesia in Parkinson’s Disease
One of the main indications for stereotactic surgery in Parkinson's disease (PD) is the control of levodopa-induced dyskinesia. This can be achieved by pallidotomy and globus pallidus internus (GPi) deep brain stimulation (DBS) or by subthalamotomy and subthalamic nucleus (STN) DBS, which usually allow for a cut down in the dosage of levodopa. DBS has assumed a pivotal role in stereotactic surg...
متن کاملLevodopa-Induced Dyskinesia: Medical and Surgical Management
Although levodopa therapy remains the most effective symptomatic treatment for PD, its usefulness may be limited by these motor complications, which result in deterioration in quality of life. Levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) is characterized by a variety of hyperkinetic movements. Although chorea and dystonia are the most common manifestations of LID, stereotypies, tics, myoclonus, or ballism...
متن کاملRegional Differences in Hospitalizations and Cholecystectomies for Biliary Dyskinesia
BACKGROUND/AIMS Published studies suggest that socioeconomic factors contribute to increasing cholecystectomy rates for biliary dyskinesia (BD). The aim of this study was to identify factors driving admissions and operations for BD by examining regional variability in hospitalizations and cholecystectomies for this disorder. METHODS Annual hospitalizations and cholecystectomy rates for biliar...
